- DHAULAGIRI ROUND (18-25 Days)
This is on of the most prestigious trips that one can find anywhere. Dhauligiri is the fourth highest mountain in the world; this trek goes on the other side of the Dhauligiri massif from the Jomson trek. Our route goes through Gurung, Magar, Chetri, Brahmin, and Thakali villages and follows the Kali Gandaki and Magdi River valleys. Baglung is the starting point after leaving Pokhara. Beni is located in the confluence of two rivers.
Most tourists take the Jomson route around Dhauligiri and, as a result, you will rewarded with a quieter trek going this less-traveled way. Like Beni, Dharawang is located on the bottom of the hill. You will gain lots of heights before reaching Shivang; this trek goes to a height of 5,500 meters at the French Pass. After seeing Dhaulagiri in the east, one will approach through the villages of Muri, Bagarchap, Dobhan, Bageni, and finally to the "Italian" Basecamp and then to the Dhaulagiri Basecamp, where we will spend the night. The great view of Dhaulagiri is so impressive from any corner that one will look. The next great impression is the beautiful Hidden Valley, which we will have all to ourselves as no one lives here. From Yak Kharka, Nilgiri in the east and Dhaulagiri on the south, we will descend down to the lovely village of Marpha. Jomsom is only a half-day from here. From Jomson, you can either fly to Pokhara or walk, adding another five days to the trek.
