- ANNAPURNA SANCTUARY TREK ( 10-12 Days )
This is one of the classic treks in Nepal as well as the one of the most famous. In a relatively short time it is possible to experience a huge variety of scenery, as we climb through warm green foothills right up to the snow and ice at the base of some of the world's highest mountains. Leaving the lovely lakeside city of Pokhara, we will travel a short distance by car or bus to the village of Dhampus. We climb through several different types of forests before descending into the beautiful Modi Khola River valley.
During our trek, we will pass through many Gurung and Magyar villages where life continues today as it has for centuries. As we follow the Modi Khola north towards its source in the Himalaya, the scenery changes from lush green to high alpine, with snow-capped mountains and glaciers in constant view. Unlike many treks that circle the mountains, this trek brings you right into the heart of the Himalayans. The climax of the trip for many is staying in Machhupuchre Base Camp, from where you can see the rare view of a mountain from the bottom all the way to the top, and then continuing on to the world-famous Annapurna Sanctuary, a high valley surrounded by soaring 8,000-meter peaks. While at the Annapurna base camp, which is located in the Sanctuary, it may be possible to visit with one of the climbing groups attempting the summit of this famous mountain.
